Working Hard? Make Sure You're Adding Value!

“If I work hard I will get noticed.” That’s a common quote when employees talk about their careers. But, it’s not the company’s, or manager’s, responsibility to focus on an employee’s career growth. It’s the employee’s responsibility!

In a perfect world, it would be great if every manager spent hours focusing on career plans for their staff. But, the reality is that doesn’t always happen. So, it’s up to each individual to take ownership of their career journey.

And getting noticed isn’t about working hard or spending long hours at the office – although sometimes that’s required. It’s about creating value for your boss, for your company, and for your client.

Are you creating value but still not getting noticed? Don’t forget to share your accomplishments with your manager during your one-on-one meetings. Ask for feedback on your work and how you can add the most value to the team.
